Heavy rainfall across Mexico this week has triggered widespread flooding and landslides, resulting in at least 27 reported fatalities across four states. Authorities have attributed these severe weather events to Post-Tropical Cyclone Priscilla, a former hurricane, and Tropical Storm Raymond, both located off Mexico’s western Pacific coast. The adverse conditions have caused extensive damage, including thousands of homes and roads impacted, power outages affecting entire communities, and the forced evacuation of hundreds of residents.
Specifically, the state of Hidalgo reported at least 16 deaths and eight individuals missing. In the state of Puebla, nine people have died, with search operations underway for at least eight others believed to be buried after a landslide struck their homes. Forecasters anticipate the heavy rainfall will persist throughout the upcoming weekend.
