A significant road accident occurred on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway in the evening near the Navale Bridge, involving a container truck that reportedly lost control and collided with multiple vehicles. Authorities confirmed that five individuals were deceased as a result of the incident, while eight to ten others sustained injuries and were subsequently transported to a hospital.
The collision led to a substantial fire, necessitating the dispatch of the Fire Brigade to extinguish the flames. The incident also caused considerable traffic congestion on the busy highway. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, with immediate efforts focused on providing treatment for the injured.
