A video clip featuring entrepreneur Elon Musk’s past remarks on “woke mind virus” and gender identity has recently gained renewed attention on X. In the interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson, Musk detailed an ideological shift, stating it was partly influenced by his child’s gender transition. He asserted, “My son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus,” and alleged he was pressured into signing documents during a crisis. Musk also claimed, “It’s very possible for adults to manipulate children who are having an identity crisis into believing they are the wrong gender,” before declaring, “I vow to destroy the woke mind virus.”
His child, who legally changed her name to Vivian Wilson in 2022, has reportedly distanced herself from Musk. According to Le Monde, she described experiencing “relentless harassment for my femininity and queerness.” The clip’s resurgence follows a viral post quoting Musk’s vow, which he subsequently amplified by replying “Yes,” linking his acquisition of Twitter (now X) to a broader stance against “woke ideology.”
