Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission from New Delhi. Concurrently, Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu addressed an event at Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University in Guntur, where he affirmed the government’s focus on farmer welfare and the implementation of agricultural programs. The Minister indicated that these new initiatives aim to enhance farmers’ economic empowerment and ensure protein security through increased pulse production. He further noted the upcoming launch of projects nationwide, valued at ₹42,000 crore, across the agriculture, fisheries, and allied sectors.

The central government reportedly intends to promote diversified cropping in 100 districts through 30 schemes, with the objective of doubling farmers’ income. In Andhra Pradesh, the scheme is slated to cover Alluri Sitharama Raju, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, and Annamayya districts over the next six years, prioritizing post-harvest management and quality enhancement. The government has also assured the procurement of pulses at Minimum Support Price (MSP), the provision of high-yielding seeds, and the establishment of market linkages. Minister Atchannaidu encouraged farmers to adopt crop diversification, natural farming practices, and cultivation methods oriented towards export. Additionally, Prathipadu MLA Burla Ramanjaneyulu acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in prioritizing agriculture and implementing programs designed to increase farmers’ income as part of Vision 2047.
