Joravarsinh Jadav, a distinguished Indian folk artiste, author, and cultural promoter, has passed away at the age of 85 in Ahmedabad. He was widely recognized for his significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of local folk art forms across Gujarat.
Born on January 10, 1940, Jadav dedicated his life to nurturing artistic talent, establishing the Gujarat Folk Art Foundation, and providing platforms for over 3,000 folk artistes on both national and international stages. His prolific career included authoring 110 books on folk culture.
A recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2019, Jadav also earned accolades such as the Meghani Suvarna Chandrak and the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi Award. Following his demise, artistes honored his legacy with a commemorative performance during his final journey in Ahmedabad.
