Pakistan Challenges ICC Statement on Afghan Cricketer Deaths

Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information, Ata Tarar, criticized a statement issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the deaths of three Afghan cricketers. Mr. Tarar asserted that the ICC's statement was "selective" and "biased," suggesting it gave the impression that the cricketers were killed in "Pakistan strikes" without independent verification of claims made by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

The ICC's statement followed the ACB's decision to withdraw its team from an upcoming tri-series scheduled in Pakistan, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to replace Afghanistan with Zimbabwe. Minister Tarar further stated that Pakistan, having experienced terrorism for years, demands the ICC correct its statement. He also highlighted that ICC Chairman Jay Shah and the ACB subsequently reiterated similar sentiments, which Mr. Tarar claimed were made "without presenting any real evidence."
