Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has again lauded former US President Donald Trump, crediting his leadership for facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan after a four-day conflict earlier this year. Addressing Azerbaijan’s Victory Day parade in Baku, Sharif stated that Trump’s “bold and decisive leadership” was instrumental in averting a major war and restoring peace in South Asia.
While Islamabad continues to attribute a central role to Washington and personally Trump for ending the hostilities, the Press Trust of India (PTI), citing Indian government sources, presents an alternative account. These sources contend that India and Pakistan reached a bilateral understanding to end the cross-border strikes on their own, without external mediation. The confrontation began on May 7 when India initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting alleged terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
