A cyberattack on the Kido nursery chain has reportedly resulted in the compromise of personal data belonging to approximately 8,000 children. The perpetrators claim to have accessed children’s names, pictures, and addresses, alongside information pertaining to parents and carers, and sensitive safeguarding notes.
The alleged criminals contacted the BBC to announce the breach, subsequently publishing a sample of the stolen data, which includes profiles and images of 10 children, on a darknet website. Kido operates several nurseries primarily located in and around London. An expert associated with Kido, Graeme Stuart, described the targeting of children and schools as “indefensible.” The BBC has reportedly sought comment from the Kido chain regarding the incident.
