A physical altercation involving a group of visitors occurred on Saturday evening on the footpath opposite Vidhana Soudha, a designated high-security area. The incident, reportedly involving individuals from a neighboring state and stemming from a heated argument and a suspected personal dispute, caused public alarm and prompted questions regarding security protocols in the vicinity. Police personnel arrived promptly, utilized mild caning to disperse the individuals, and brought the situation under control.
The Vidhana Soudha Police Station has since registered a suo motu case, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all those involved. A video of the event circulated widely on social media. While a former city police commissioner publicly criticized security arrangements, a Deputy Commissioner of Police affirmed the prompt action taken by beat staff to maintain order and confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated.
