Polish adventure skier Andrzej Bargiel, 37, has reportedly become the first individual to climb Mount Everest and then ski down the peak without the use of supplemental oxygen. This achievement was announced by Bargiel and his sponsors, concluding on a Monday.

Mr. Bargiel’s ascent from base camp reportedly took four days, followed by a two-day ski descent. The article notes that Everest reaches 8,800 feet above sea level, where oxygen levels are significantly reduced to approximately one-third of those at sea level. While over 7,000 people have ascended Everest, only about 200 have done so without bottled oxygen, underscoring the extreme nature of Mr. Bargiel’s method. Video footage from the summit reportedly depicts him breathing heavily, illustrating the considerable physical demands involved in performing tasks at such an altitude without additional oxygen.
