Sir Keir Starmer has issued a public statement pledging to protect Jewish communities and combat antisemitic hate, addressing concerns following an incident in Manchester. His remarks underscore a commitment to do “everything” in his power to ensure the safety of Jewish people.
The Community Security Trust (CST) characterized the event as an “appalling attack” that occurred at a synagogue on a significant Jewish holy day, confirming its collaboration with police and the local Jewish community. The Israeli embassy in the UK described the act of violence as “abhorrent and deeply distressing,” particularly due to its timing and location in a place of worship, and reported being in close contact with Manchester’s Jewish community, authorities, and the CST.
Greater Manchester Police have reported that four individuals remain in hospital following the incident.
