A proposed significant increase in the H1-B visa fee, specifically a $100,000 charge, has generated commentary regarding its potential implications for the U.S. technology sector.
Khanderao Kand, representing the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), described the potential policy as an “unfortunate” development. He projected a “very negative” impact on the business landscape, particularly within the software and broader tech industry, and for U.S.-educated STEM talent already facing challenges due to artificial intelligence and tariffs.
Kand further suggested that such a fee could impede the ability of startups and smaller technology companies to innovate and compete by intensifying existing talent shortages. This assessment was reported by ANI.
