Retired Banker Alleges Rs 4 Crore Fraud by Relative Using Fake Government Scheme

A 53-year-old retired bank employee in Pune has allegedly been defrauded of over Rs 4 crore by a close relative. The reported scheme involved a fake government reward program designed to mislead the victim. To perpetuate the deception, the accused allegedly staged fraudulent conference calls, making the retired employee believe he was communicating with senior government figures, including the Union Home Minister and the National Security Advisor. Over a period spanning four years, from 2020 to 2024, the victim reportedly transferred substantial funds to various bank accounts, believing the transactions were temporary and would be subject to reimbursement.
