Telangana State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao discussed the party's position on Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections and offered critiques of the ruling Congress government. Rao affirmed the BJP's commitment to prioritizing BCs and ensuring party-level reservations for their candidates in upcoming elections. He characterized the Congress government's decision to conduct local body elections, which he alleged limited BC reservations to party-level allocations instead of a 42% provision, as "unjust."
Rao further accused the Congress party of utilizing its 'BC Declaration' for political gain without implementing the necessary legal steps for reservations. He attributed the delays in conducting panchayat elections to a "failure" of the Congress government, noting that sarpanch elections had not been held for 21 months past their tenure. Additionally, Rao commented on Operation Kagar, stating the Central government's decisive actions against terrorism and Maoist activities, and urged Maoists to abandon weapons and integrate into mainstream society.
