Tripura Chief Minister Seeks Enhanced Funding Ceiling for State Projects

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has formally requested Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to either remove or significantly raise the ceiling for externally aided projects (EAPs) for the state. Speaking at a party event, CM Saha specified a desired increase to ₹10,000 crore, up from the current ₹3,000 crore limit reportedly applicable to northeastern states, in contrast to mainland states which he stated have no such ceiling. The chief minister articulated that this enhancement is crucial for accelerating development initiatives across Tripura.

Saha also provided updates on his government's activities, highlighting efforts in infrastructure development and public welfare. He noted that ₹7,000 crore has been earmarked for capital expenditure. Furthermore, he addressed employee welfare, stating that 29% Dearness Allowance (DA) has been released over 29 months, though a 22% gap with central government employees persists. Regarding employment, Saha reported that over 20,000 regular government posts and 6,000 contractual positions have been filled since 2018.
