The University of Agricultural Sciences-Bangalore (UAS-B) is scheduled to conduct Krishi Mela 2025 from November 13 to 16 at its GKVK campus in Bengaluru. This event is set to showcase various initiatives and developments within the agricultural sector.
A central focus of the Krishi Mela will be agri-tourism, an approach aimed at providing additional income opportunities for farmers. This initiative will allow tourists to experience rural and agricultural environments firsthand, including demonstrations of traditional farming practices such as paddy cultivation, ploughing, sowing, harvesting, and threshing.
Additionally, a Fish Expo will be featured, displaying and offering for sale Indian and local ornamental fish, indigenous heritage species, and Karnataka inland fish. The exhibition will also highlight freshwater pearl farming, improved fish breeds, and various innovations in aquaculture and fisheries management.
During the event, UAS-B will honor progressive farmers with state-level, district-level, and taluk-level awards. The university will also release new hybrid varieties of Grain sorghum, Sunflower, Castor, and Black Turmeric, developed to offer increased yields. To facilitate visitor access, a free bus service will be provided from the GKVK main gate to the Krishi Mela site.
