Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently encouraged consumers, specifically women in Delhi, to increase their shopping activities during the upcoming festive season. He highlighted that new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, which were scheduled to be implemented from September 22, 2025, would lead to reduced prices for various goods, including household essentials, textiles, and apparel.
Shah noted that these new rates would coincide with festivals such as Diwali and Navratri. Concurrently, he urged citizens to make a pledge to purchase only ‘made in India’ or ‘swadeshi’ products, aligning this call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to promote domestic manufacturing and consumption.
