Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of late singer-composer Zubeen Garg, has returned the second autopsy report regarding his death to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT, primarily composed of officials from the Assam police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), had provided this report to Ms. Garg on October 4, 2025, after she had received the first report on October 2.
Mr. Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19. On October 2, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that it had furnished a copy of its autopsy report and preliminary findings to the High Commission of India, with ongoing police investigations in Singapore. Individuals including festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, drummer Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, and co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta were held in connection with Mr. Garg’s death.
Furthermore, on October 3, the Governor of Assam established a one-man judicial commission, led by retired Gauhati High Court judge Soumitra Saikia, to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Garg’s demise.
