AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami highlighted the efforts made by his party’s previous government concerning the Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail project. He spoke on Sunday at the Chennai airport while receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Palaniswami stated that the AIADMK government initiated work on the project and allocated funds, even when central government funding was delayed. He recalled meeting with the Prime Minister multiple times to advocate for the project’s funding.
He expressed satisfaction that the project, which he described as having seeds sown by the AIADMK government, has progressed. Mr. Palaniswami also mentioned that ₹63,246 crore was allocated in 2024 for the project.
