Former bureaucrat Amit Khare has been appointed as the Secretary to the Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Khare’s appointment, which is on a contractual basis for a period of three years, carrying the rank and pay of a Secretary. Khare, a retired 1985-batch IAS officer from the Jharkhand Cadre, previously served as an Advisor to the Prime Minister, focusing on social sector matters in the Prime Minister’s Office since October 2021. His distinguished career also includes significant roles as Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, School Education and Literacy, and Higher Education. Furthermore, he was part of the core team responsible for formulating and implementing the National Education Policy, 2020.
