The Chief Minister of Assam has requested a comprehensive investigation into the death of Himashri Boro, a 20-year-old student from Assam. Her body was discovered in a forested area in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the Union Railway Minister, the Assam Chief Minister urged their intervention to ensure a thorough and timely inquiry into the circumstances of Ms. Boro’s death. He stated that the student had contacted her family expressing fear about the presence of several men around her while traveling on the Dibrugarh Vivek Express train.
Ms. Boro, a student at B. Borooah College in Guwahati, had traveled to Visakhapatnam with a dance troupe and was on her return journey. Her bag was found in one of the train’s coaches, and her body was subsequently recovered near Malayapuram. The Assam Chief Minister noted that these circumstances raise serious suspicions of foul play and have caused significant distress in Assam.
To facilitate the investigation, a senior Assam police officer has been dispatched to Andhra Pradesh to collaborate with local authorities. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of identifying and bringing any responsible parties to justice promptly.
