A discernible shift in the allocation of key administrative positions within the Chandigarh Administration has been reported, leading to an additional Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer choosing to withdraw from the Union Territory (UT) assignment.
Observations indicate a growing trend where significant postings are being assigned to UT cadre officers, reportedly causing dissatisfaction among both HCS and Haryana-cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. Instances cited include the transfer of the Excise and Taxation Commissioner role from a Haryana IAS officer to an AGMUT cadre officer, and the Health Department’s leadership shifting from a senior Haryana-cadre IAS to an AGMUT cadre officer.
Additionally, the Transport Secretary position, previously held by a Haryana cadre IAS, is now managed by a Punjab cadre officer. Notably, all Assistant Estate Officer (AEO) posts, which historically included at least one HCS officer, are currently occupied by UT cadre officers.
