The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) in Coimbatore has initiated an inquiry following the circulation of videos reportedly depicting a man striking a child with a belt at a local children’s home. Under instructions from Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, DCPU officials visited the Grace Happy Home Trust in Kottaipalayam. The investigation involves interviewing the resident children, who attend a nearby government school.
The videos, which became widely circulated, show an individual hitting a child in the presence of other residents and caretakers. The man seen in the footage is reportedly involved in the daily management of the children’s home. Police officials have stated they are awaiting a formal complaint from the DCPU before taking further action. The DCPU is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the Collector upon completing its inquiry.
