Approximately 150 individuals were detained by police in Delhi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, as they participated in a march. The protest, which originated from Patel Chowk and was headed towards Jantar Mantar, was against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with participants demanding his resignation.
Among those detained were AISA national president Neha Bora, activist Yogendra Yadav, and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan. AISA members stated that other senior advocates, including Kapil Sibal, Nitya Ramakrishnan, and Pallav Sisodia, also joined the march alongside Bora and students.
Police initiated detentions as protesters gathered near the intended protest site. Security measures included the deployment of personnel at various points and the erection of barricades on roads leading to Jantar Mantar. AISA members have made allegations of misconduct by police officers towards Neha Bora, which could not be immediately verified.
Earlier in the day, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke commented on his social media activity, noting that his X handle might be restricted after a post thanking Mamata Banerjee for her support was limited on the platform.
