India Post has significantly expanded its digital services and financial inclusion initiatives in Telangana, according to Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) D.S.V.R. Murthy. The department is serving nearly 20 lakh Cheyutha pension beneficiaries monthly and strengthening citizen-centric services through technological innovations.
Speaking on World Post Day, Mr. Murthy highlighted India Post’s transformation into a modern, technology-enabled organization. The Telangana Circle operates through a vast network of post offices, supported by departmental employees and Gramin Dak Sevaks.
Digital initiatives include the APT 2.0 platform and DIGIPIN, a digital address system developed with IIT Hyderabad and NRSC-ISRO. The Door Step Service application allows real-time tracking, and new Speed Post services in Hyderabad have handled a substantial volume of articles. The CPMG also noted the facilitation of passport and Aadhaar transactions, as well as the maintenance of a large number of Post Office Savings Bank accounts.
India Post aims to bring a significant portion of the rural population under financial inclusion by 2026-27. The Circle has also sold a considerable number of Postal Life Insurance policies and generated substantial revenue.
