The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is scheduled to convene a leadership meeting on Monday to address significant internal party matters. The primary agenda items include a review of the disciplinary action taken against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil and an examination of organizational challenges within the party’s Wayanad district unit.
Discussions regarding Mr. Mamkootathil’s disciplinary action reportedly occur amid observations of internal divisions among Congress leaders. Some members of the youth wing have suggested that the action was taken without adequate process. The meeting is also expected to consider potential reforms for the party’s digital media cell and accountability measures for social media accounts that have allegedly targeted leaders following the Mamkootathil issue.
In the Wayanad district, the KPCC has expressed concern over the reported involvement of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in the party’s local controversies. Additionally, the family of a former district leader has voiced criticism of the Congress leadership, citing perceived neglect. The leader’s son has attributed the alleged suicides of five party leaders in the district to internal factionalism and financial disagreements within the Wayanad unit.
