Major LPG distributor federations have rejected a proposed protest and indefinite strike in Delhi. Instead, they prefer to engage in dialogue with state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) and the Petroleum Ministry to address demands for increased commissions and relief from operational pressures.

The Federation of LPG Distributors of India (FLDI) and the All India LPG Distributors Federation (AILDF), representing most distributors, have distanced themselves from a strike call issued by a smaller group. They stated that distributors’ concerns should be resolved through constructive engagement and that they are committed to uninterrupted LPG home delivery.

Distributor associations have been seeking a commission revision for the past five years, as current rates have remained unchanged despite rising costs. They have also raised concerns about pressure to sell non-fuel products and changes to refill orders without consent. OMCs have assured consideration of these issues to promote ethical business practices.

OMC management has indicated that proposals for commission revision have been submitted to the petroleum ministry, and an interim increase is being considered. The federations are also advocating for written standard operating procedures, improved grievance mechanisms, and a roadmap for the LPG distribution network.
