Police in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, are investigating claims of wrongful confinement and torture made by three men. The alleged incidents occurred at the residence of Barhapur BJP MLA Sushant Singh.
The men, two of whom were domestic helpers at the MLA’s house and a friend, claim they were held captive and subjected to severe abuse. This allegedly happened over a suspected theft of a gold bracelet belonging to the MLA’s son.
Allegations include being hung upside down, beaten, given electric shocks, and having salt applied to wounds. The victims were hospitalized, with one reportedly in critical condition. The MLA has denied the allegations, stating the workers were only questioned.
The complainants have requested an FIR against several individuals, including the MLA’s aides. Police have stated that action will be taken following a thorough investigation.
