Preliminary results from Moldova’s recent parliamentary election indicate that President Maia Sandu’s Party of Action and Solidarity secured an absolute majority with 55 of 101 seats.

The pro-Russian Patriotic Electoral Bloc, which attained approximately 26 seats, disputed these outcomes, alleging irregularities and criticizing the incumbent government’s handling of voting for Moldovans residing outside the country. This bloc highlighted the distribution of international polling places, noting a greater availability in regions where voters tend to favor the European Union, such as 24 stations in Britain and 22 in the United States.

In contrast, only two polling stations were operational in Russia, a significant reduction from the 17 available in 2021. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri S. Peskov stated that this decrease deprived “hundreds of thousands of Moldovans” living in the Russian Federation of their opportunity to vote.
