The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] is preparing to open a new district committee office in Kannur. This facility will become the new repository for a historical ledger that records the party’s activities and significant events within the district.
Currently located at the Azhikodan Samaraka Mandiram, the ledger was compiled by Sreenivasan, who became the party office secretary in 1970. It details the party’s progression during various periods, including times when communication methods were restricted. The document also includes an account of how the Azhikodan family relief fund was established after the assassination of Azhikodan Raghavan on September 23, 1972.
Mr. Sreenivasan, now 80 years old, dedicated his career to party work after leaving a government position. He chronicled the party’s journey through the tenures of multiple district secretaries. Sreenivasan noted the lasting significance of the history and efforts documented within the ledger.
