Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported that Russia launched over 3,500 drones and approximately 190 missiles against Ukraine during the current month. President Zelenskyy also referenced alleged Russian drone incursions into NATO member states, including Poland and Romania, and called for a joint European air defense system to mitigate such “aerial terror.”
In response to these regional developments, the United Kingdom announced the deployment of Royal Air Force Typhoon jets. These aircraft are designated to intercept drones over Poland and other NATO allies in Eastern Europe if deemed necessary. UK Defence Secretary John Healey stated that NATO is responding to these threats with unity and strength, emphasizing the readiness of Typhoons to engage Russian drones over NATO territory.
