Early Sunday morning, a road accident on the Jaipur Ring Road resulted in the deaths of seven family members, including two children. The vehicle, reportedly driven by Ram Raj Vaishnav of Sanganer, skidded off the road and plunged approximately 16 feet into a deep, rainwater-filled underpass.
Police officials stated that prima facie evidence suggests the car was traveling at high speed and the driver may have been drowsy, leading to a loss of control. The vehicle reportedly crashed into a divider before falling through a 20-foot-wide passage into the water. The family was returning from Haridwar after conducting post-death rituals for a relative.
The accident went unnoticed for several hours, with a passerby spotting the submerged vehicle around 12:30 PM and alerting authorities. Shivdaspura Police and emergency services responded, using a crane to retrieve the car. The recovery of all seven bodies from the vehicle took approximately one hour. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma issued condolences following the tragedy.
