During the ongoing trial in the Sheena Bora murder case, a 38-year-old witness, identified as a former school friend of Ms. Bora, provided testimony regarding past email and verbal communications with the victim.
The witness, now a husband, informed the court about exchanging emails with Ms. Bora. According to the witness, these communications included Ms. Bora reportedly expressing sentiments of being “fed up” and considering taking “sanyas” (renunciation). The witness also testified that Ms. Bora had conveyed her intention to marry Rahul Mukerjea, son of Peter Mukerjea from a previous marriage, stating she was “happy with Rahul.” The witness last spoke to Ms. Bora on April 15, 2012, after which all communication reportedly ceased.
Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjiv Khanna, and Peter Mukerjea are currently facing trial for their alleged roles in the conspiracy and execution of the crime. Ms. Bora, aged 24, was reportedly strangled to death in a car in April 2012 in Mumbai, with Indrani Mukerjea, her driver Shyamvar Rai, and Sanjiv Khanna implicated in the alleged murder.
