Telangana Government Projects Revenue Decrease Amid GST Rate Revisions; Urges Trader Transparency

The Telangana government projects a revenue reduction of ₹5,000 crore subsequent to recent revisions in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka attributed these changes to a unanimous policy decision by Revanth Reddy, aimed at rationalizing GST to benefit specific societal sections. Mr. Vikramarka underscored Telangana’s active role in the GST Council, asserting his participation ensured the rate adjustments would serve the public good. He emphasized that progress hinges on cooperation between governmental bodies and traders.

In light of these revisions, Mr. Vikramarka urged traders to ensure complete transparency by clearly displaying the reduced prices of commodities, including agricultural equipment, food products, and cement, to consumers. He called for accurate communication regarding the impact of GST changes and encouraged traders to report any malpractices to the state government. Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister assured the trading community of the state government’s openness to discuss and resolve their challenges, aiming to streamline business operations throughout Telangana.
