Counter-terrorism police have re-arrested two men in connection with an incident that occurred near RAF Fairford last month. The investigation is reported to be related to Iran.
The two men arrested are a 24-year-old UK national and a 25-year-old dual UK-Iranian national. They are being held on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service, according to Section 3 of the National Security Act 2023.
The incident prompted police to investigate three suspicious vehicles near the airbase in Gloucestershire in the early hours of September 27. A major incident was declared at the time, leading to the evacuation of dozens of homes. Initially, seven men were arrested as part of the counter-terror investigation, but they were later released on bail.
