The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) to expedite the selection process for 50 class III and IV staff vacancies within the Advocate General’s office. This directive was issued following concerns raised about a persistent and significant staff shortage, with numerous positions reportedly vacant for several years. During a hearing on March 30, the division bench expressed serious apprehension that the operational effectiveness of the Advocate General’s office had diminished, impacting its ability to provide adequate assistance to the courts and thereby contributing to delays in justice. The court emphasized the necessity for immediate action, stating that a paralyzed system due to unaddressed vacancies would undermine the justice delivery system. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on April 17.
