Andy Burnham, the current Prime Minister and former Mayor of Greater Manchester, had two hospitality dinners with the chairman of Manchester City football club. These dinners occurred in 2017 and 2018 at matches.
The details emerged following a statement from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) regarding Burnham’s dealings with the club. While the GMCA statement detailed a formal meeting in 2021 and an informal meeting in 2019, it did not specify these two hospitality dinners.
A previously published register of declarations, which has since been removed from the GMCA website, listed these dinners. One was valued at £300 in August 2017, and the other at approximately £699 in April 2018. The removal of the register is reportedly due to GMCA policy of only publishing entries from the current mayoral term.
