Filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap recently detailed the casting process for his 2013 film, Besharam, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Kashyap stated his initial preference was to cast Sonakshi Sinha, citing a positive experience with her on his debut film, Dabangg. However, Ranbir Kapoor reportedly expressed discomfort with Sinha in the lead role. Despite interest from Katrina Kaif, conveyed by the CEO of Viacom and through a meeting with Kashyap, the director maintained she was not considered suitable for the part, a position he also held during the casting of Dabangg. Sinha has previously remarked on experiencing situations where older co-actors commented on her appearance, stating she “looks older than us”.
