An unauthorized sculpture depicting Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein holding hands was removed from the National Mall in Washington D.C. within a day of its erection. The installation was created by a group of anonymous artists, identifying themselves as Secret Handshake.
According to an accompanying plaque and statements from an artist involved, the artwork was intended to “honor friendship month” and celebrate what was described as a “long-lasting bond” between the two individuals. Historical accounts recall Trump describing Epstein in 2002 as a “terrific guy” and “a lot of fun to be with.” Epstein reportedly told journalist Michael Wolff that he was Trump’s “closest friend for 10 years.” In recent times, Trump has distanced himself from Epstein, stating they “fell out long ago” and that he is “not a fan” because Epstein “stole people that worked for me.” The White House has also characterized Epstein as “a creep.”
