Hundreds of farmers in Dharwad, Karnataka, participated in a tractor rally and foot march on Saturday, October 3. The demonstration was organized by various farmers’ groups to press the State government for action on several issues.
Key demands included compensation for crop losses, consistent power supply for agricultural pump sets, and a waiver of farm loans. Farmers also requested free fodder for cattle in drought-affected areas.
The rally, which began in Shivalli village, passed through several villages before reaching Dharwad. Participants raised slogans and submitted a memorandum to the tahsildar, outlining their grievances and proposed solutions.
Leaders from farmers’ organizations and the BJP addressed the gathering, criticizing the State government’s response to the drought situation and its impact on farmers.
