The Kerala High Court has ordered the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to provide essential facilities for pilgrims traveling to Sabarimala at Erumely.

The court’s directive came after a petition from the Ayyappa Seva Sangam, an organization focused on devotee welfare at Erumely, highlighted the need for improved amenities. The court stressed that the TDB is responsible for ensuring adequate facilities at all pilgrim resting places, including Erumely.

Key requirements include the provision of drinking water and washrooms. Additionally, the court mandated that parking facilities charging higher rates must install CCTV surveillance and offer a mobile app for advance booking, alongside online payment options like UPI. A Deputy Collector is also to be appointed to enhance coordination and address pilgrim grievances.

The court has previously issued instructions to guarantee a safe and comfortable pilgrimage, aiming to protect devotees from exploitation by traders and others.
