An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 struck Assam on Sunday, September 14, 2025, with its epicenter identified in Udalguri district at latitude 26.78°N and longitude 92.33°E, at a depth of 5 km. Tremors from the event were reported across several Northeastern Indian states, including Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura. Following the main quake, two aftershocks were recorded, with the first measuring magnitude 3.1 and occurring in Udalguri district at 4:58 pm. As of immediate reports, there were no casualties or major damage. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal issued a statement urging the public to remain alert.
