Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kolkata on September 14 and 15, marking his second trip to the city within a month. The primary purpose of this visit is to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025. This three-day conference will take place at Fort William, which serves as the headquarters of the Army’s Eastern Command, running from September 15 to 17.
Mr. Modi will arrive in Kolkata from Assam on Sunday evening and stay overnight at Raj Bhavan. He is slated to inaugurate the conference at 9:30 AM on Monday before departing for Purnea, Bihar, in the afternoon. The event is expected to draw a number of high-profile attendees, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, among other dignitaries. The Prime Minister’s visit occurs approximately one year prior to the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
