Oldbury Racially Aggravated Assault Prompts Police Investigation and Community Response

West Midlands Police are investigating a reported racially aggravated assault on a woman in her 20s, which occurred on Tuesday near Tame Road in Oldbury. Police confirmed that the two male perpetrators made a racist remark during the incident.

The victim has since released a public statement expressing her gratitude for the community’s “love and support.” The Sikh Federation (UK), which is supporting the victim, reported that the attackers allegedly told her, “You don’t belong in this country, get out.”

Kuldeep Singh Deol, former president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick, characterized the attack as “shameful.” Dabinderjit Singh from the Sikh Federation (UK) described the incident as “unheard of,” expressing worry among residents, particularly young women, and referenced a previous assault on Sikh taxi drivers in the West Midlands. West Midlands Police continue to pursue “a number of positive lines of enquiry” in their search for the two men involved.
