Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has stated that the recent suspension of the U.S. Permanent Labor Certification Program (PERM) will not affect its business operations or workforce strategy in the United States. The company confirmed it would adhere to any U.S. government directives regarding its operations.
The U.S. government suspended several IT firms, including TCS, from the PERM program on Thursday, October 8, 2026. This program is essential for companies seeking to obtain green cards for their H-1B visa employees. Other companies named in the suspension include Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini, Microsoft, and Adobe.
TCS emphasized that its reliance on the PERM program has been minimal, with PERM applications in the single digits over the past two years. Therefore, the company does not anticipate any impact on its workforce strategy or customer engagements due to this suspension.
The IT firm reiterated its commitment to the U.S. market, announcing plans to hire an additional 15,000 individuals in the U.S. over the next five years. TCS highlighted that its U.S. workforce strategy is primarily focused on hiring local talent and is supported by a strong campus recruitment model, with a significant local workforce already established across its 31 U.S. offices and delivery centers.
