Prosecutors have discontinued charges against Christopher Cash, 30, a former parliamentary researcher, and Christopher Berry, 33. The two men had been accused of spying for China under the Official Secrets Act, with allegations of gathering and providing information prejudicial to state interests between December 28, 2021, and February 3, 2023. Both individuals had previously denied the charges. Beijing had described the initial allegations as “malicious slander.” A trial, which had been scheduled to commence at the Old Bailey in October, will now not proceed.
