Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) national organising secretary Milind Parande recently alleged that Kerala has emerged as a "hub of love jihad." During a press conference in Kochi, Mr. Parande announced the organization's intention to petition the Union government for urgent intervention regarding the issue. He connected his allegations to a specific inter-faith marriage that occurred in Thiruvananthapuram, involving an alleged minor tribal girl from Madhya Pradesh and a Muslim man from Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Parande further claimed a "planned conspiracy" was behind the incident, accusing the state's ruling party and police of facilitating a "serious crime" rather than protecting the girl.
