A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines on Tuesday night, affecting Cebu province just before 10 p.m. local time, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. The powerful tremor resulted in at least 69 confirmed fatalities and over 150 injuries, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The earthquake led to the collapse of buildings and caused damage to at least 22 pieces of infrastructure, with three bridges and one road rendered impassable. A series of smaller aftershocks followed the main seismic event.
