Marda’s business venture, Phitku, originated from a personal challenge she faced after pregnancy concerning body odour. While researching solutions, she rediscovered the traditional use of alum (phitkari) for its antibacterial properties.
Her brother, Sumit, recognized the market potential in her personal solution, leading to the development of the Phitku brand. Marda likens her approach to entrepreneurship to her acting career, focusing on learning through experience, persistence, and seeking knowledge from others.
Despite facing criticism on platforms like Shark Tank India regarding pricing, Marda highlights that consumer validation through repeat purchases and positive feedback has been more significant than investor opinions. She explains the product’s value lies in its formulation, development, and convenience, not just the raw ingredient.
