Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, 47, has announced his departure as the men’s coach for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred competition. Flintoff, who led the team for two seasons, confirmed he declined a contract offer from the franchise’s new owners, the Sun Group.
Flintoff stated his decision was based on feeling “worth more” than the salary offered, which he characterized as significantly lower than that of other head coaches. He also indicated a feeling of being undervalued by the new ownership during discussions.
A spokesperson for the Sun Group acknowledged the discussions, confirming that an offer, which represented an increase over Flintoff’s previous salary, was extended. The group expressed its desire for Flintoff to continue in the role but respects his decision to leave.
